A safe place for support
Our TreeHouse provides a safe environment where children and their families grieving a death can share their experiences. Children and teens who have had a parent, sibling or primary care giver die often feel isolated. They may have difficulty in school or suffer from depression. Providing a safe place for children, teens and their families to come together in mutual support can help break isolation and offer hope.
“When a child loses a loved one, it is difficult to find an environment in which they can comfortably express their feelings to others who understand. Our TreeHouse is a place where youth can support each other.”
Joshua Batway, Volunteer
“Ever since my husband and my children’s father Roland died, I have struggled with a way to turn something horrible into something hopeful. Our TreeHouse is one way to accomplish this in a meaningful way.”
